WE ARE ONLY HUMAN

And, we’re back! Hi everyone, I know it’s been quite some time since I last posted on my blog. I think I got so caught up in assessment last year at University and then from that point everything else happened and I just haven’t had much time to write, nor was I feeling very inspired. I’m sure many of us have had our days... weeks... months, where we are feeling down, unmotivated and just not at all inspired to do anything, even the things we are passionate about. This is what I wanted to touch on today, in hopes that maybe I can help you lovely people get your motivation up and running again, or even a teeny tiny bit is better than nothing at all!
To begin, I guess we should start with how some of us are feeling, or have felt previously! For me personally, I find it quite a common occurrence to feel unmotivated and lacking in inspiration, I’m sure many of you agree. Rather than bad days, I’ve been told that I have bad weeks, sometimes even months!!! That feeling of not wanting to get out of bed, no motivation to tackle your daily/weekly tasks that you would normally do with ease, taking your feelings out on those closest to us... All this stuff that happens to us when we are feeling down is pretty common I would imagine. I haven’t actually figured out the cure myself (sorry), but I do have some tips and tricks that have helped me the last few months get back on my feet and not feel so sorry for myself every day.
Only really in the last few weeks, have I started to take action for what I’m feeling, and trying my best, some days better than others, to get moving and tackle the day! Recently I have decided to force myself into healthier eating and more physical activity (gross I know... I still HATE it). Almost every day that I can, I go for a walk/run just to get out in the fresh air which always makes me feel a little more relaxed and connected with the world again, plus it gets ya sweat glands going and it always feels good to break a sweat! Fortunately, I’ve managed to lose some weight from the exercise and good eating I have been doing which is always a sign of motivation for that sort of stuff, well for me anyway. I’ve been trying to focus lately on the things that will help me feel good within myself, not only in my own skin but in my mind as well.
Being down all the time, certainly starts to take a toll on those around us, as well as on ourselves and our own minds. In regards to refreshing your mind, I think it’s best to find your own remedies for that. But some of my go to’s at the moment are:
♥ Focusing on my breathing: when I’m upset/angry, breathing always helps me to cool down a little bit, so I don’t always say the wrong thing or blow things out of proportion.
♥ Getting things done: Focusing on the things that I need to get done for the day or the week and actually doing them, always brings a sense of achievement and I think at times where you feel unmotivated, feeling like you have achieved something is always so nice.
♥ Pampering myself: a face mask always helps you feel like you have your life together!!! Painting your nails, washing your hair, whatever it is that makes you feel pampered. I suggest doing this at least once a week to have some YOU time.
♥ Studying: if you are a student, you will totally understand how good it feels to get all your study done and actually learn something for once! Not have to feel rushed to finish assessment and having spare time to do other things other than your weekly readings. Sitting down and focusing your energy into something else, is always an incredible way to take your mind away from things that are upsetting you.
I think it’s important for everyone to feel empowered through themselves, and take part in activities that help them to feel good about themselves (not the number on the scale but what’s going on INSIDE). Don’t beat yourself up about feeling down so much, it only makes you feel worse. I think it’s so important to bring to the surface the problems you are facing and deal with them head on, rather than beating around the bush and ignoring things that are hurting us. Remembering that we should only worry about the things that are in our control.
Stay true to yourself, and remember that it’s up to you to empower yourself and kick your own butt into line. That’s all for today. Again, thank you all so much for joining me, even after such a long time of getting my shit together.
Stay golden, all my love x
